The National Monuments Service's description
Only three ogee headed windows survive of a late medieval church which may have come from the nearby village of Kinnitty. These windows were inserted into the demesne wall probably in the 19th-century when the demesne house was built. Two of these windows are twin light windows with ogee heads and the other light consists of a single ogee light with hood moulding. The original head of one of the twin lights is lying on the ground against the demesne wall. Each window has several pieces belonging to different dates ranging from the late medieval to the 18th-century. This probably happened when they were inserting the windows into the wall. There is no structural evidence of any church building in the courtyard area and no church site is marked on the OS 6-inch maps. In the front of the 19th-century house is a 10th-century High Cross decorated with biblical scenes, geometric and interlaced patterns (Harbison 1972, 201). The windows of the church along with the High Cross were probably removed from the grounds of Kinnitty church (OF036-040001-) to their present location in the 19th-century.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
