The site (Wth 4.9m; D 0.75m) consists of a large assemblage of wood in opposing drain faces which incorporates several sites that could not be clearly distinguished. This material crosses three fen peat strata and distinct sites could not be determined within the two lower strata. The wood in the central horizon, however, is concentrated in a band (Wth 4.2m; D 0.4m) of mixed brushwood with some roundwoods. Three separate groupings are apparent in the upper peat stratum. One consists of two roundwoods, 0.37m apart, and some brushwood. The second (Wth 0.62m) is comprised of a piece of heavy brushwood with some light brushwood. The third group comprises an irregular spread of brushwood and a roundwood and is located 0.6m to the S of the other material.
Woodworking was recorded from the material on the NW side of this drain face. Wood species include hazel, ash, birch, oak, alder and Pyrus/Malus. The complex is located c. 0.25m below SMR OF018-042---- and SMR OF018-041----, and SMR OF018-044---- is located below its SE end. SMR OF018-045---- and SMR OF018-046---- are located 3.5m and 4.7m to the NW, respectively. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1997. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
