The National Monuments Service's description
Only a portion of the N wall survives for a length of approx. 1.5m and stands to a height of 4m. No architectural features evident and the lack of any features on the meagre remains makes it impossible to analyse. The wall thickness of this building measures 0.8m with the walls constructed with roughly coursed limestone rubble. Two bar slots evident, one on the N wall which measured 0.1m high by 0.1m wide, this slot may have belonged to a ground floor window on the N wall.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
