The National Monuments Service's description
A band of (Wth 2.4m; D 0.45m) brushwood and roundwoods in opposing drain faces. The pieces are mainly orientated N-S. The brushwood (diam. 0.022-0.047m) is laid 2-3 pieces deep. It is found between, above and below the roundwoods. A number of pieces sit upright at angles of c. 45° and may have functioned as pegs. Numerous pieces have been cut to chisel points. Wood species include birch, alder and hazel. The site is located in moderately humified Sphagnum and Eriophorum peat containing some ericaceous remains and fibrous roots. A radially split oak plank is recorded c. 0.75m to the S of the main concentration and is orientated E-W. The association between the plank and the site is uncertain but it is possible that the plank is related to SMR OF015-198----, SMR OF015-199---- or OF-LEM 144 located in the adjacent drain to the NE, all of which contain similar plank elements. The plank has been dendrochronologically dated to AD 589±9 or later (Q9285) which is comparable to a dendrochronological date from SMR OF015-200----.
