The National Monuments Service's description

The site (L 6.7m min.; D 0.26m min.) consists of an extensive deposit of light brushwood, roundwoods and twigs towards the bottom of the drain face and in the drain base. In the drain base, the wood is concentrated towards the centre of the site and consists of compactly laid brushwood orientated N-S. A small number of pieces lie at right angles to these. To either side of this area, the brushwood is more dispersed. Towards the E extent of the site, however, a smaller concentration of twigs and light brushwood is recorded. Woodworking is attested by numerous metal-cut toolmarks. Wood species are dominated by willow, with ash and alder also recorded. The site is situated in poorly humified Sphagnum peat.
