The National Monuments Service's description
Located at the crest of the SE-facing slope of a drumlin. This is an overgrown circular grass-covered area (diam. 37.5m NE-SW; 37.2m NNW-SSE) that slopes down slightly (H 1m) to the SE. It is defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth of base 7.6-10m; int. H 0.6-0.9m; ext. H 2-2.7m), with an outer V-shaped fosse (at NNW: Wth of top 4.8m; ext. D 2m) surviving S-NW-ESE. There are gaps in the bank at S and W, but the original entrance (Wth of base 3.6m) and causeway are at ENE.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
