The National Monuments Service's description

Located on a small NW-SE ridge, which is on the NE-facing slope of a drumlin. This is an overgrown circular area (diam. 52m NW-SE; 45m NE-SW) planted with coniferous trees, which is defined by an overgrown earthen bank (at SE: Wth of base c. 5m; Wth of top c. 2m; int. H c. 1m; ext. H c. 3m), with slight traces of an external fosse (at WSW: Wth c. 4m; ext. D 0.2m) SW-N. There is an entrance (Wth of base 1.5m) at WNW. There is local knowledge of a souterrain in the bank at NNE, which is said to have had a lintelled entrance, but it is no longer evident. A NE-SW field bank cuts the monument towards the perimeter at SE.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
