The National Monuments Service's description

Located towards the S end of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. This is a subcircular grass and scrub-covered area (dims 47.5m NE-SW; 39.5m NE-SW) defined by an overgrown earthen bank WNW-N (Wth c. 5m; int. H c. 0.5m; ext. H c. 2.5m) and ENE-SW, which is reduced to a scarp (at NE: H 3m) elsewhere, and a slight outer fosse E-SSW. There are entrance gaps at NW (Wth of base 1.5m) and SE (Wth of base 2.2m).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.

Date of revision: 25 August 2017
