The National Monuments Service's description

Situated at a knoll of rock outcrop on the undulating summit of a broad hill. This is a sub-triangular piece of rock outcrop (dims 13m NW-SE; 8.5m NE-SW at NW; H 1-1.2m) with the apex at SE where it is grass-covered. At the N angle there is an indentation (dims 2.3m NW-SE; 0.9m NE-SW) with a shelf (L 0.6m; Wth 0.2m; H 0.6m) in the angle that could serve as an altar. A cement cross that incorporates a spud-stone into its base was erected in 1913 (Ó Gallachair 1957, 115). Mass is celebrated annually during August, weather permitting.
