The National Monuments Service's description

Located towards the bottom of a NW-facing slope. This is a circular to subrectangular overgrown area (diam. 41m ENE-WSW; 38m NNW-SSE) defined by a slight earthen bank (Wth 3.4-4.2m; int. H 0.4-0.8m; ext. H 0.5m at E to 1.2m at W), with an outer stone facing S-WSW which morphs into a stone wall on top of the bank WSW-NE. There is no visible fosse but the original entrance (Wth of base 1.6m) is likely to be the one at NE. Rath (MO028-024----) is across the valley c. 120m to the NW.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
