The National Monuments Service's description

Situated at the SE end of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. This is a grass and scrub-covered circular area (diam. 27.2m NNW-SSE; 26.4m ENE-WSW) that slopes down to the S (H 2.4m). It is defined by a grass-covered earthen bank (Wth 3.8-5.2m; int. H 0.3m at SSE to 1.2m at NNW) with some bushes. There are slight traces of an outer fosse, although it is probably re-cut (Wth of top 3.4m; Wth of base 0.8m; D 0.4m) at NE. There is a large grass-covered hollow (dims 6.5m x 5.4m; D 0.8m) inside the bank at SW. The only entrance gap (Wth of base 2.2m) is at NW. A NNW-SSE field bank and townland boundary with Cashlan East cuts the monument towards the NE edge.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
