The National Monuments Service's description

Located towards the bottom of a S-facing slope overlooking a shelf on a drumlin. This was described in 1967 as a large grass-covered circular area (diam. 51m N-S; 46m E-W) defined by an earthen bank that only survives at NW (Wth 3.6m; int. H 2m; ext. H 2m) and SE separated by a fosse (at NW: Wth of top 6.2m; Wth of base 2.4m; ext. D 2.6m; at SW: Wth of top 4.3m; Wth of base 2.6m; int. D 2.3m; ext. D 0.7m) from an outer bank (at NW: Wth 4.6m; ext. H 1.2m). The inner and outer banks were incorporated into a farm lane N-E but the original entrance was not identified. By 1995 farm buildings had been built in the N quadrant (OSAP).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
