The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on top of a drumlin. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 36m NW-SE; 33.7m NE-SW) defined by a furze-covered earthen bank (Wth of base 7.2-8m; int. H 0.8-1.1m; ext. H 3.6-4m) and an outer flat-bottomed fosse (at NE: Wth of base 1.8m; ext. D 0.2m) NNE-SE that is largely reduced to a berm (at SW: Wth 5m). The entrance (Wth of base 2.2m) and causeway (Wth of top 5.6m; H 0.9m) are at ENE. A sunken area (dims 7.3m E-W; 2.2m N-S; D 1.1m) with a spur (dims 5m N-S; 3m E-W; D 1m) at one end is NW of the centre and may be a destroyed souterrain. A NNW-SSE field bank overlies the interior towards the E edge.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
