The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on the summit of a drumlin. This is a subcircular grass-covered area (dims 33.5m NNE-SSW; 28m WNW-ESE) defined by an earthen bank (at SSW: Wth 9m; int. H 1.6m; ext. H 3.2m) which is largely reduced to a scarp (at NNE: Wth 4m; H 3m) and hedge separated by a rounded fosse (at SSW: Wth of top 9.7m; ext. D 1.8m) from an outer bank (Wth of base 3.5-6m; ext. H 1-1.8m) and hedge. There is a large depression, probably an old quarry inside the perimeter at S, and there are some tree-stumps in the interior. A modern field bank is built against the outer face of the outer bank NW-NE-SSE, and there is an external fosse (Wth of top 3.8m; ext. D 0.2m) recut as a field drain outside the outer bank SSE-W. The entrance through the inner (Wth of base 2.2m) and outer (Wth c. 7m) banks with a causeway (Wth of top 4.9m; H 1.3m) is at NE.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
