The National Monuments Service's description

Located at the crest of the E-facing slope at the NE summit of a NE-SW drumlin ridge. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 32m NW-SE; 31m NE-SW) defined by an earthen bank (Wth of base 10-11m; int. H 0.9-1.4m; ext. H 2.5-2.7m) separated by an fosse (Wth of top 8-9m; Wth of base c. 2m; ext. D 0.7m-1.4m) from an outer field bank (at N: Wth of base 2.3m; ext. H 0.9m) with an outer stone facing NW-E, which is largely reduced to a low widely-spread mound (at S: Wth 5m; int. H 0.7m; ext. H 0.6m) E-S-NW. The entrance through the inner bank (Wth of base 3.2m) and causeway (Wth of top 5.2m; H 1.1m) is at SE but there is no gap in the outer bank here.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
