The National Monuments Service's description

Located at the summit of a drumlin. A circular enclosure is depicted at Drumhaman on McCrea’s map of County Monaghan (1793), and an embanked circular enclosure (ext. diam. c. 35m) is also depicted on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is surrounded by a curving field bank ESE-W and where it is described as a 'fort' in gothic lettering. There is no evidence of an enclosure present now in an area divided between three fields, but the field bank outside it S-W is still extant and the S part of the enclosure can be detected as a grass and scrub-covered and defined by a slight scarp E-S.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
