The National Monuments Service's description
Situated at the NW end of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. This is an overgrown circular area (diam. c. 42m NE-SW; c. 38m NE-SW) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth of base 3m; int. H 0.65m; ext. H 1.35m) E-S where it crosses the ridge, but it is largely reduced to an overgrown scarp (H 1.8-2.5m) that is greatest at NW (H 3m). There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
