The National Monuments Service's description

Located at the highest point of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. This is an oval grass-covered area (dims 44m NNW-SSE; 34.5m ENE-WSW) defined by an earthen bank (at SE: Wth of base 2.3m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.6m) and hedge that is largely reduced to a scarp (at NE: Wth 2.8m; H 1.8m) and hedge. There is no visible fosse but the perimeter is incorporated into a field bank with outer facing stones and an outer drain S-NW. There is a modern entrance at N, but the original entrance is not identified.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
