The National Monuments Service's description

Attached to the SE shore of Cordoo Lough, a sub-rectangular lake (dims c. 410-530m NE-SW; c. 180-270m NW-SE) amongst drumlins. It is represented as a narrow peninsula attached to the shore on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map and as a broader promontory on the 1907 edition. This is a grass-covered cairn (diam. c. 10m; H c. 1m) that proved to be inaccessible through the density of reed growth.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
