The National Monuments Service's description

Situated at the highest point and towards the NW end of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 31.5m NNW-SSE; 31m ENE-WSW) defined by an earthen bank (at NW: Wth of base 4.6m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 1.7m) and hedge with no visible fosse but the entrance (Wth of base 2.4m) is at ENE. The interior is bisected by a NW-SE field bank and the foundations of a subrectangular house structure (ext. dims 5.7m x 4.7m; int. dims 5m x 4.3m) defined by a low bank (Wth 1.1m; H 0.2m) and with a probable entrance at ENE is visible SW of this field bank.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
