The National Monuments Service's description
Located towards the bottom of a S-facing slope. It is depicted as a D-shaped hachured feature (dims c. 25m ENE-WSW; c. 25m NNW-SSE) bounded by straight field banks at N and E only on the 1907 edition of the OS 6-inch map. This is a raised and rectangular grass-covered area (dims c. 8m N-S; c. 8m E-W) bounded by straight field banks at the N (H 1.7m) and E sides with outer re-cut drains, and by a curving field bank S-W that had been removed by c. 2013 (Bing). It had a modern entrance in the N field bank.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
