The National Monuments Service's description

Located at the SW end of a NE-SW drumlin ridge. This is a circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 22.5m N-S; 20m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth of base c. 3m; int. H c. 0.5m; ext. H 1.5-2m) and hedge that is reduced to a scarp at W, and a fosse (Wth of top ) N-E-SW. There is an entrance (Wth of base 1.5m) but no causeway at NE. Inside the bank at N there is a sunken area (dims of top 13.5m; E-W; 4.5m N-S; D 0.5m), but its function is not clear. The monument has become overgrown since 1968 (OSAP).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
