The National Monuments Service's description

Located on top of a drumlin. This is a subcircular and raised grass-covered area (dims 34m NNE-SSW; 30m WNW-ESE) defined by a grass and scrub-covered earthen bank (at N: Wth of base 6m; int. H 0.75m; ext. H 2.25m), with an outer fosse (at N: Wth of top 3.7m; Wth of base 1.4m; ext. D 1.05m) that is best preserved SSW-W-NE. There is an outer field bank SW-NNW, and the fosse is skirted by a farm lane and its bank S-SW. The original entrance (Wth of base 2.8m) is at ESE, but there is no causeway.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
