The National Monuments Service's description

Located at the crest of the S-facing slope of a drumlin. This is a circular grass and rush-covered area (diam. 43m ENE-WSW; 40m NNW-SSE) defined by an earthen bank (Wth c. 3-4m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.6m at E to 1.5m generally) that is reduced to a scarp (at SSE: H 1.4m) SE-W, and the remains of an external fosse that is best seen SSE-SW. There are entrances at NE and ESE, but the original entrance is not identified. A depression (max. L 18m; max. Wth 6.4m; max. D 1.75m) that extends S from the centre to the perimeter may be an old quarry.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
