The National Monuments Service's description
Situated towards the bottom of the E-facing slope of the WNW-ESE spine of a ridge. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 34.5m WNW-ESE; 31m NNE-SSW) defined by an overgrown earthen bank and an outer fosse (at N: Wth of top 2.1m; ext. D 0.9m) that has traces of an outer bank E-SE. The entrance (Wth of base 3.1m) and causeway (Wth of top 3.4m; H 0.6m) are at S. Rath (MO013-036----) is c. 190m to the NW.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
