The National Monuments Service's description
Located at the E end of an E-W drumlin ridge. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 30m WNW-ESE; 27nm NNE-SSW) defined by an earthen bank (at N: Wth of base 3.5m; int. H 0.35m; ext. H 0.5m) with some bushes, an outer fosse (at N: Wth of top 3.7m; Wth of base 1.8m; D 0.35m) WSW-N-SE and traces of an external bank (at N: Wth of base 3.5m; ext. H 0.5m) WSW-N-E. The original entrance (Wth 3.3m) is at E. A depression (dims 9m N-S; 2.5m E-W; D 0.5m) is inside the bank at W and breaches it at NNW. The monument has become overgrown since 1968 (OSAP 2000).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
