The National Monuments Service's description
Located at the S end of a short N-S drumlin ridge. A circular embanked enclosure only is depicted only on a revision of the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map dated 1858 where it is described in gothic lettering as a ‘fort’. It is visible as a slightly raised grass-covered area (diam. c. 23m NE-SW) with a curving field bank on the perimeter N-E-S.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
