The National Monuments Service's description

Located towards the top of the S-facing slope of a drumlin. This is a subcircular grass-covered area (dims 29.5m NE-SW; 26.5m NE-SW) that slopes down to the SE. It is defined by an earthen bank (at NW: Wth 3m; int. H 1.3m; ext. H 1.2m) and hedge S-W-NE but the perimeter is reduced to a scarp (at SE: H 1.45m) and hedge elsewhere, and traces of an outer fosse. The original entrance is not identified.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.

Date of revision: 13 December 2017
