The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on the W and N-facing slope of a drumlin. This is a circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 26.6m NNW-SSE; 24.6m ENE-WSW) defined by an earthen bank (at SW: Wth of base 5.3m; Wth of top 1.6m; int. H 0.7m; ext. H 1.5m) and hedge SE-W-NW that is reduced to a scarp and hedge elsewhere. There is no visible fosse but there is a farm track outside the bank E-S. The present entrance (Wth of top 2.5m) is at ESE.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.

Date of revision: 30 August 2017
