The National Monuments Service's description
Located towards the N end of a NNE-SSW drumlin ridge. This rath is depicted as an embanked enclosure and described in gothic lettering as a ‘fort’ only on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 35m NW-SE; c. 32m NE-SW) defined by traces of an earthen bank SE-W-NW which was incorporated into a field bank NW-NE and a road bank NE-SE, but only the road bank survives now.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
