The National Monuments Service's description
Located on a low rise on the E bank of the S-N canalised Blackwater River. This is raised and grass-covered oval area (dims 40m N-S; 28m E-W) defined by a scarp (at E: Wth 4.5m; H 2m; at N: Wth 5m; H 1.2m), which is slightly truncated by the stream at W. There is no visible fosse or entrance. This is separated by a berm (Wth 11m at N to 14m at E) from an outer fosse or drain (at N: Wth of top 5m; int. D 1.2m; ext. D 0.3m; at E: Wth of top 6.5m; int. D 1.2m; ext. D 0.6m; at S: Wth of top 6m; int. D 1.6m; ext. D 1.6m) that survives NW-E-SW. An entrance through the outer fosse is not identified.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
