The National Monuments Service's description
Triple-layered brushwood and roundwood trackway uncovered 0.17m below the surface. A light brushwood and roundwood structure, 0.95m wide and up to three layers deep visible in the drain face and on the field surface for over 17m. The light scale of the individual elements suggests this may be a hurdle. ME046-059---- occurs within a cluster of sites situated between the western edge of the bog and the dryland island within the bog. (Bermingham 2014)
The site was excavated in 2015 (licence 15E168) and dated cal. 1005-841 BC (UBA 31810). Excavation revealed a short length (2.96m) of possible brushwood togher. It was composed of mainly light hazel and alder brushwood and twigs, oriented NE–SW, overlain by some heavier elements that were oriented SE–NW. They formed a surface that measured 0.56–1.1m in width. Several toolmarked ends were noted, mostly chisel points and occasional wedge points with a mixture of flat and concave facets (Whitaker 2017).
