The National Monuments Service's description
A single roundwood demonstrating archaeological potential exposed in the drain face, 0.19m below the surface. The roundwood is aligned northeast – southwest, 0.1m in diameter and is situated between ME046-057---- and ME-KRS 0040 (ME046-059----?). It occurs within a cluster of sites situated between the western edge of the bog and the dryland island within the bog. (Bermingham 2014)
A single cutting was opened for excavation in 2015 (licence 15E0169). The site was dated cal. 1370-1059 BC (UBA 31809). The single alder roundwood (L0.36m, Diam. 0.08m) was orientated NE–SW. The SW extent had a wedge-shaped toolmarked end with three concave facets. It was laid in poor to moderately decomposed Sphagnum peat (Whitaker 2017).
