The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a shelf of a gentle N-facing slope. Archaeological testing (03E1316) by L. McGowan of Area 23 in advance of the N2 bypass of Ahsbourne identified and fully excavated (excavations.ie 2004:1176) a small circular area (int. diam. 1.7m) defined by a slight fosse (Wth 0.7m; D 0.28m) that had three fills with varying qualities of silt. It is unlikely that that this small feature had a mound or bank, and its S half was cut by a modern NE-SW field drain (Wth 0.66m; D 0.26m). One small trimming flint flake was found, but the charcoal recovered was insufficient to provide a radiocarbon date. (McGowan 2008)
