The National Monuments Service's description

Archaeological testing (04E0348) by R. Meenan at a development site on Canon Row identified slight remains at the centre of the area (excavations.ie 2004:1298) but at the SW end of the adjacent property more substantial remains were recorded in testing (05E0754) by the same archaeologist that was completed by hand (excavations.ie 2005:1224). Two large pits (dims c. 3m; D c. 0.7-0.9m) at the W edge had been cut by a third between them. Small quantities of medieval pottery were recovered, which suggests that they may have been quarry pits rather than refuse pits. At the N end of the site a section of an E-W ditch (Wth 2.5m plus; D 0.5m plus) with a stepped edge was also sampled. Other features included indistinct gullies cut in the yellow clay subsoil.
