The National Monuments Service's description
Aerial photographs and surface indications suggest that there might be a possible small passage-tomb some 60m E of the main mound (ME019-045----) at Newgrange (O'Kelly et. al. 1978, 251). Identified by O'Kelly (1978, 48) as Site Z1 in his Guide to Newgrange.
See attached pdf showing contour plan of Newgrange which shows location of tombs Z (ME019-044004-) and Z1, taken from Kelly et. al. 1978, 253.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
