The National Monuments Service's description
Corn-drying kiln number 1: This is located just to the E of Tomb 17 within its mound, and it was fully excavated in 1970 as kiln No. 1. It was a circular chamber (diam. of base 1.5m; diam. of top 2.18m)with 7-11 courses of stonework surviving (max. H 1.1m). The flue (L 3.9m; Wth 0.5-0.7m) approached from the SSE and had one lintel in place just before the chamber, which partly overlay the kerb of the tomb. There was evidence of burning only at the entrance to the flue, and the structure was filled with a dark earth that produced no artefacts. It is not conserved. (Eogan 2012, 183-4)
