The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a slight rise in a fairly level landscape. The motte is a flat-topped, grass-covered earthen mound (diam. of top 12m NNW-SSE; diam. of base 45m NNW-SSE; H 7.5m at SSW to 10. 4m at NNW) with some trees defined by a fosse (at NNW: Wth of top 5m; ext. D 1m; at SSE: Wth c. 14m; ext. D 2.4m). The top of the motte is concave and some stonework is visible there. A raised lunate, grass-covered bailey is attached SE-SW (dims c. 50m E-W; 22m NNW-SSE) defined by a wide fosse (at SSE: Wth of top 12m; ext. D 1.5m) with some scrub on every side. There is a possible hut site at the S side of the bailey and just SE of the bailey is a rectangular enclosure (dims 18m NE-SW; 8m NW-SE) defined by low banks. There is another rectangular enclosure (ME015-071----) c. 30m SW of the bailey, and the mound (ME015-069----) is c. 100m WNW of the motte. Archaeological testing (04E0207) just to the W produced no related material (Powell 2004).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
