The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a rise in a fairly low-lying landscape. This is a subcircular and grass-covered area (dims 28m NE-SW; 21m NW-SE) that slopes down to the S (H 1.2m). It is defined by a low earthen bank (Wth 10m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.4m) and outer fosse (Wth of top 7m; ext. D 0.3m) W-NE that morph into an external scarp (at SE: Wth 5m; H 1.6m) elsewhere. This is separated by a berm (Wth 6m at SE to 14m at NW) that has some trees from an outer scarp (at SE: Wth 8m; H 3m) NE-S-W that melds into an earthen bank (at NW: Wth 6m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.5m) elsewhere. The original entrance is not identified.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
