Situated on an E-facing slope. This is subcircular, grass and rush-covered area (dims 46m E-W; 39m N-S) that slopes down to the E (H 2m). It is defined by an earthen bank (Wth of base 5-7m; int. H 0.2m at E (downslope) – 1m at W; ext. H 1.9m at W to 2.6m at E) and hedge with a complete outer fosse (Wth of top 6-6.4m; Wth of base 2.5m; ext. D 0.3m at E to 1.1m at W). The widened entrance (Wth of base 3.2m) and causeway (Wth of top 3.1m; H 0.7m) are at SE.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
