The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a rise which is on a fairly steep N-facing slope overlooking the NW-SE Kilmainham stream, c. 100m to the N at the closest point. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 33 NNW-ESE; 32m ENE-WSSW) defined by a grass-covered earthen bank (at WNW: Wth of base 4m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.7m) with some trees E-S-NW, and an outer fosse (at ESE: Wth of top 5m; Wth of base 1.5m; ext. D 0.3m) NE-S and SW- NW (at WNW: Wth of top 4.5m; Wth of base 1.2m; ext. D 0.9m), but both the bank and fosse are absent NW-NE. Rath (ME005-010----) is c. 150m to the SSW.
