The National Monuments Service's description

Known locally as 'Giant's Grave'. Situated in recently reclaimed pasture. Site consists of a gallery (L 4m; Wth 1.6m), orientated approximately E-W. Entrance, at E. Two segmenting jambs (H 1.05m), 0.25m apart, divide the gallery into two chambers, one to the E (L 1.5m) and one to the W (L 2.3m). Jambs supported a lintel, now displaced, resting on gallery side. Two huge orthostats, one each on the N and S sides, form most of the gallery's outline. The backstone (H 1.55m) is at the W. Cairn material, (de Valera, ÓNualláin 1964, 85), since cleared, gave the site an overall length of 15m and a width of 9m.

The above description has been derived from D. Lavelle (compiler), An Archaeological Survey of Ballinrobe and District including Lough Mask and Lough Carra. Lough Mask and Lough Carra Tourist Development Association (1994), No. 1.
