The National Monuments Service's description
Located on a low rise, in rough rock-strewn pasture surrounded by expanses of bog. Much of the surrounding land has been planted with conifers.
Listed in the RMP (1996) as a possible wedge tomb based on local information, this monument was inspected by the Megalithic Survey in 1996, who determined it to be megalithic structure of unknown date and uncertain function.
Roughly rectangular drystone-built structure, with two roughly parallel side walls (L c. 3-3.4m N−S) set c. 1.3m apart. The two walls each consist of a single course of large irregular-shaped boulders (max. H 0.7m). The entrance appears to have been at the S end where the gap between the two side walls narrows to 0.6m. Here drystone walling, consisting of rough courses of small horizontally laid stones, is built up on top of the foundation course of boulders on either side of the gap to support a large slab/lintel (H above ground 1.1m) which roofs the gap. The N end of the structure and the interior are obscured by a chaotic jumble of stones; these stones may be collapsed upper wall courses or field clearance or both. A hazel tree grow out of the interior.
