In pasture, located on top of a rise utilising the natural fall of ground to S and W, with good views.
This enclosure is recorded on an estate map (NLI Ms. No. 2713) drawn up in 1811 for Sir Robert Lynch-Blosse, where it is marked ‘Rath’ and indicated as a roughly circular enclosure crossed centrally on a N–S axis by the townland boundary. It is not shown the 1838 and 1916 OS 6-inch maps; although a curving field boundary (coinciding with the NE quadrant of the enclosure) is shown on the 1838 OS 6-inch edition.
The remnants of a subcircular area (diam. c. 20m) can still be traced, overlain by the junction of the NNW-SSE townland boundary and an E-W field fence. The W half of the enclosure is evident as a slightly raised, semi-circular area (c. 20m N–S; 7m E–W) defined by a slight scarp marked by a growth of ferns and rushes. The NE quadrant is barely discernible, and the SE quadrant comprises a disturbed, irregular area partly defined by a curving scarp, which does not appear to align with the W half of the enclosure. A sub-rectangular depression (3m E–W; 4.5m N–S; D 0.5m) cuts through the SE quadrant.
