The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, now converted to forestry plantation, on an area of sloping ground. This burnt mound was discovered in 2010 during archaeological testing (10E0483) in advance of a proposed development. There was no trace of the monument at ground level prior to the testing. It was revealed in the test trench as a spread (11m N−S; 9m E−W) of heat-shattered stone in a charcoal-rich soil, with two small isolated ancillary deposits, one to E and one to W of the main mound. The burnt mound was preserved in-situ and not fully excavated (Delaney 2011). No surface trace of the burnt mound was noted during an inspection of the location in 2016 in advance of forestry development (Wallace, 2016). An exclusion zone protects the monument.
