The National Monuments Service's description

In pasture, located on a rise with good views. To NE it overlooks Derrymore Lough, now reduced by modern drainage to an expanse of wet ground, in the centre of which there is a possible crannog (MA092-086----).
Raised circular area (31.5m NE–SW; 33m NW–SE) defined SSW–NNE by an earthen bank (Wth 1.85m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1.25m), reduced to a scarp (H 1.5m) at NE and levelled to a low surface undulation on the SE arc. Stones protruding from the low internal lip of the bank may be remnants of stone facing. Some large stones protrude at random from the external face at W.
There is no clearly defined entrance but it is most likely to have been located at E. The interior is level, except for a slight dip close to the bank at N. A field fence on a NE–SW axis crosses the rath to E of centre; the portion of the rath lying to W of the fence is better preserved.
Grass cover, with a few hawthorn bushes around the perimeter and on the bisecting field fence. There is a small depression, probably an old quarry pit, a few meters to W of the rath.
