The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on the flattish summit of a low hummock in enclosed land that falls away generally towards E. A small marshy basin lies to NE. Aspect to E and SE is good, overlooking Kinnacorra Point. An oval enclosure (MA085-054----) lies 20m to SSW. The house site consists of a roughly circular and flat area (N–S c. 7.50m, E–W c. 7–8m), notably grassy and stone free, is delimited by a loose scatter of stone around rim of the hill summit. This stone scatter (H 0.4m max.) appears to be the remnants of the robbed walls of a house, possibly a double- faced wall with a rubble core. Only a couple of revetment-like set slabs survive, however, at N. At E, is a possible entrance gap (Wth c. 2m).
The above description is derived from: New Survey of Clare Island. Volume 5: Archaeology. Edited by Paul Gosling, Conleth Manning and John Waddell. (Royal Irish Academy, Dublin. 2007). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated.
