The National Monuments Service's description
Situated towards upper, N end of a small SE-facing hollow through which a small stream flows. A number of trees and bushes grow in the vicinity. One bush grows at south-eastern foot of the mound itself. The fulacht fia comprises a small well-defined, steep-sided mound (EW 6m, N–S 3.8m, H 1.1m, on S side) mantled by grass and heather. It is slightly lunate in plan, opening towards N away from the stream that lies to SSW of it, c. 12m distant. No visible trace of burnt stone noted, but probing with a surveyor ’s arrow revealed a mass of small stones on the southern side at the base of the mound. It is flanked along the eastern side by a modern field wall running NNW–SSE.
The above description is derived from: New Survey of Clare Island. Volume 5: Archaeology. Edited by Paul Gosling, Conleth Manning and John Waddell. (Royal Irish Academy, Dublin. 2007). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated.
