The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on western bank of a small stream that skirts around the southern foot of the mound. This mound lies 25m SW of MA085-006001-. The fulacht fia comprises a well-defined mound, lunate in plan (N–S c. 10.7m, E–W c. 5.7m, H c. 0.65m, including stones embedded on summit), which opens to W. Although the present course of the stream skirts around the back (southern side) of the mound, the topography of the immediate vicinity suggests that it may once have flowed to W of it. The concave face of the mound is revetted by a single line of set slabs and blocks up to 0.4m high. Masses of burnt stone are visible on the summit of the mound, particularly at the southern end.
The above description is derived from: New Survey of Clare Island. Volume 5: Archaeology. Edited by Paul Gosling, Conleth Manning and John Waddell. (Royal Irish Academy, Dublin. 2007). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated.
