The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, close to the SE boundary of Carrowcastle townland, located on a ridge, within a broad natural depression encircled by gently rising ground, which largely blocks views except to SE towards a skyline dominated by the Ox Mountains.
Massive, sub-rectangular upright stone block (H 2m; Wth c. 0.85m; T c. 0.35m), with quartz inclusions. The long axis is NNW–SSE, and has an elongated diamond shape in cross-section. Approximately half way up the stone, the sides begin to incline inwards towards a narrow top which is abruptly flat.
